Follower check 🔍👤
What is the follower check?
The follower check looks at whether someone follows your Instagram account at the moment they tap a button in a button template message.
The first Auto DM goes out to everyone. It is only after that — to read what is inside the message, or to open a link — that following becomes necessary.
The message they are shown then changes automatically, depending on whether they follow you.
How it works 🔄
When someone taps a button in a button template:
- ✅ Already following→ The message or content linked to that button is shown as normal.
- 🚫 Not following→ They see a prompt such as ‘Follow to see this message’.
This lets you run follower-only content without any extra effort.
You can reword the non-follower prompt ✏️
- The message shown to non-followers is yours to edit.
- Change the wording to whatever tone you like, from the Auto DM settings popup.
Write a friendly note that fits your brand, or a clear call to action.
Default setting and how to turn it off ⚙️
- 🔘 When you use a button template message→ The follower check is switched on by default.
- ❌ If you would rather not use it→ Clear the checkbox for that option in the Auto DM settings.
It is a single setting, so you can switch it on and off whenever you like.
Why use it 🎯
With the follower check you can:
- Encourage follows naturally, through the DM itself
- Offer follower-only content — coupons, perks, exclusive information
- Turn DM engagement into real follower growth
- Manage who can reach your content, effectively
