What is a button template message?

Kittychat’s Auto DM supports two message formats:

• 📝 Plain text messages
• 🃏 Button template messages

Button template messages let you deliver an interactive message with images and buttons, which lifts engagement and conversion on your Auto DMs.

What a button template is made of 🧩

A single button template message can contain:

• 🖼️ A square image
• 🏷️ A title and a sub-title
• 🔘 Up to 3 buttons Each button can do one of the following:
  • 📝 Send a text message
  • 🔗 Send text together with a link
  • 🌐 Hold a link only — tapping the button goes straight to that link

Carousel support (up to 10 cards) 🎠

You can add up to 10 button template messages and show them as a carousel.

You can use them in:

• Auto DM
• Inbox starters
• Persistent menu

Good for:

• 🍽️ Restaurant menus
• 🛍️ Product lists
• 🛎️ Service categories
• 📚 Guided, pick-an-option menus

It lets you lay a lot of information out neatly.

Follower-only content 🔒

A button template lets you control who sees your content, based on whether the person follows you:

• ✅ If they follow you→ Tapping the button shows the linked message as normal.
• 🚫 If they do not→ They see a prompt such as ‘Follow to see this message’.

Personalised messages ✨

You can use placeholders like this one:

• [username] → the person’s name or Instagram handle is filled in automatically

It makes your Auto DMs feel more personal, and more human.
